Should You Start A Podcast For Your Business?

Podcast Like You Mean It

Should you start a podcast for your business? The short answer is yes. But let me tell you how it could bring your business to the next level. Podcasting is the easiest and cheapest form of content creation for your business. Anybody who tells you otherwise has no idea what they are talking about.

Ease Of Creation

To make a highly successful podcast all you need is a microphone and an audio recorder. There are even free audio recorders on the internet. Add a guest, and you have the potential to reach millions of people wherever they are. Unlike videos, podcasts can be listened to while driving, in the gym and anywhere music can be played.

This level of access to your audience’s life makes it a must for all businesses. With the barrier to entry so low, it really is a no-brainer.

When we think of podcasting and what it actually is, it’s just a good conversation. So if it’s hard work or unenjoyable, you’re doing it wrong.

Attract Customers

If you make your podcast a valuable source of information or entertainment for your customers, you will naturally attract more of them. This can be a powerful way for many companies to give value and create goodwill within their target market.

Even if you are in a B2B business, you can add a huge amount of value to the market. Imagine you’re in the construction industry, and you start a podcast. Then you start interviewing architects, planners and so on. You not only become valuable to the industry as an information source but also as a place of promotion.

This goodwill you are creating in the marketplace opens doors to prospects that were once closed. You are top of mind when it comes to decision makers in your industry, leading to more sales due to the law of authority and reciprocation. There is massive potential for any business willing to start a podcast for their industry.

Forever Content

When you think of each podcast as a marketing asset, it can help you look at the big picture. Unlike social media, like videos, podcasts don’t disappear and are always searchable. Creating longer form content like this is extremely valuable long-term but can also work straight away.

When you make longer-form content, whether it’s video or podcasts, it helps dramatically when converting cold traffic into hot leads. Having a vault of valuable content prospects can view, listen to or read is the goal every business should be trying to achieve.

Most companies nowadays focus on social media and are constantly chasing their tales, trying to keep up. This can burn teams out, and it can feel like an uphill battle just to get another post or reel out.

The major problem with this is that it’s a leaky bucket. All those posts and all that work become irrelevant in a few days.

We want to benefit from creating a lot of valuable content that potential clients can access for years to come. Then, our social media posts become something very different, and we are no longer chasing our tails.

No Video, No Problem

A pure audio podcast is the best way to start. It takes a huge amount of pressure off the host and the guest alike. Creating purely audio podcasts also allows you to create multiple podcasts in one day.

Imagine booking one day a month for podcasting and creating 5-6 episodes from that day. Would that make creating content for your business easier? Of course, it would. Since podcasts are entertaining conversations, they are not difficult to produce.

When we created podcasts for ourselves, we were rarely out of the top 10 because of this. We were also strictly audio-based. This gave us the opportunity to record multiple episodes at a time. And trust me, if we can do it, anyone can.

If you think you need video for a successful podcast, you don’t.

Position Is Everything

If you are new to an industry or category, you don’t have to position yourself as an expert. Sometimes, it’s much more relatable to be on a mission of learning by interviewing others for their expertise. This is a much more humble and relatable position to take if you lack knowledge of your industry.

It also gives you an amazing platform to learn much quicker than your competitors. If you lack confidence in a certain area and want to learn fast, this is an amazing way to position your podcast.

Access

When creating any form of media or content, one thing you get lots of is access. Access can be vital in opening doors that were once closed.

In simple terms, why would your dream client want to meet with you so you can pitch at them? Instead, they are much more likely to record a podcast because it brings them exposure. Do not underestimate the power of being a creator of content.

Through my many years of creating content, I have gained access to places I never thought possible. I gained access to people I thought possible.

Conclusion

Should you start a podcast for your business?

If you have been sitting on the fence about starting a podcast, just start. If you have made it this far in life, I assume you can talk. And that’s all it is.

So many people waste so much time doing nothing. Just start. You can fix little issues as you go, and over time, you will get better.

There is never a perfect time, and nothing is ever perfect. All you need to do is record, learn and then repeat. By doing and not waiting for the perfect time, you will beat most of your competition.

Good Luck & Enjoy!
